The "Journal of the American Musicological Society" Introduces an Author Interview Series

The Journal of the American Musicological Society has launched a new series of author video interviews. In the first set of interviews below, JAMS editor Jake Johnson interviews the contributors to the journal's Spring 2025 (78.1) issue. We invite you to watch the video interviews below, and to complement your viewing, we have made the related articles free to read online for a limited time.

Interview with Emily I. Dolan, author of "In Search of Panpipes, or the Limits of Materiality"

Interview with Nicole Vilkner, author of "Constructing Celebrity at Cours-la-Reine in Massenet’s Manon"

We are cross-posting this video series in collaboration with the American Musicological Society (AMS). The videos can also be viewed on AMS's "Field Notes" site offering resources and information for music studies professionals and on AMS's YouTube channel.

We are pleased to publish JAMS in partnership with the American Musicological Society. AMS members receive free online access to JAMS. If you are interested in becoming a member, information about AMS membership can be found on the Society's website

You can also receive free access to JAMS if your library subscribes to the journal. If your library is not currently a subscriber, please ask your librarian to subscribe. We also offer library subscriptions to JAMS as part of our UC Press Music Subject Collection, which packages all of our music journals together for one low subscription price. You may want to consider asking your librarian to subscribe to the full collection

We also offer individual subscriptions to JAMS via the journal's website, as well as the opportunity to purchase print copies of individual issues, including issue 78.1 in which these authors' articles appear.
