Paul Strang, author of South-West France

Several titles from the UC Press food and wine list were honored by the 2009 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. South-West France: The Wines and Winemakers by Paul Strang was named Best Wine Atlas in the World. Been Doon So Long: A Randall Graham Vinthology by Randall Graham received the second place prize for Best Wine Book in the World.

The U.K. editions of The Finest Wines of Champagne by Michael Edwards and The Finest Wines of Tuscany and Central Italy by Nicolas Belfrage, MW were also named Best U.K. Book on French Wine and Best U.K. Book on European Wine respectively. Both titles were published simultaneously by UC Press and The World of Fine Wine.

For 15 years, the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards have promoted joint publishing ventures by celebrating the best books on food and wine throughout the world. In 2009, publishers from over 100 countries submitted approximately 6,000 books for consideration in 59 categories. UC Press was one of only two university presses in the United States to be honored by Gourmand this year.
