UC Press author Nadje Al-Ali spoke last weekend at a rally in Trafalgar Square held in solidarity with the Egyptian protesters. Her speech focused on the vital role of Egyptian women in the popular uprising, and raised concerns that women might be excluded from the political processes going forward. Al-Ali is the co-author of What Kind of Liberation?, the first book to examine how Iraqi women have fared since the American occupation of Iraq.
