Waistlines and Bottom Lines

Instant Recess author Toni Yancey appeared on the Tavis Smiley program to discuss how our country’s culture of inactivity affects everything from worker productivity to childhood brain development to the ratio of girls to boys in college. Yancey argues that by incorporating at least 10 minutes of physical activity into daily routines, decision makers will not only improve their organization’s well being, but also the bottom line.

  1. For most people, one of the most important things that they can do for their health and wellness is to increase the amount of physical activity. The old mantra was “no pain, no gain” in terms of exercise; many recent studies have shown the benefits of moderate exercise in terms of heart health and brain health and lowering the risk of many diseases.
