11121.160 Bill Fletcher, Jr. and Fernando Gapasin's Solidarity Divided is the winner of the Achievement Award for Best Book from the United Association for Labor Education (UALE). The award honors the best labor studies book, published between 2003 and 2008, that contributes new perspectives, scholarship, creative ideas, and overall value to the labor movement. Combining clear-thinking analysis and decades of insiders'
experience, Fletcher and Gapasin address the leadership crisis facing organized labor and outline the path to a more just future. The UALE called Solidarity Divided "…probably
the most important book on the current labor movement to come out in
recent years," and lauded the authors for their illuminating and
accessible writing style. The awards presentation will take place at the UALE's annual conference, April 15-18, in Silver Spring, MD.
