I did not receive a postcard or email about the sale (which contains a discount source code). How can I obtain a discount source code?
You can get a discount source code from our blog. Enter the source code into the discount code field of the shopping cart, click update, and the discount should be applied.
I can not find the discount source code on my postcard.
The discount source code is printed above your name on the postcard.
How long does this sale last?
This sale lasts until October 31, 2009
How many titles are on sale? What prices and discounts?
Over 4000 titles are on sale, with discounts ranging from over 90% to 10%. Most books are priced at 50% off or more, and over half are less than $9.95.
Why is the sale restricted to certain countries?
Customers in Europe, India, Africa, and the Middle East are served by our warehouse in the United Kingdom, which does not have excess inventories at this time.
I want to buy a hardcover, but I see "May not have a dust jacket" near the sale price. What does this mean?
It means the hardcover edition may not have been published with a dust jacket—it most likely is a hardcover book with a plain cloth binding. When we publish a book simultaneously in hardcover and paperback editions, we print a small
quantity of hardcovers just for academic libraries, which prefer hardcover editions but discard their jackets. The cost of printing jackets is so high that we are able to keep our prices much lower if we do not print a dust jacket for such books. Of course,
many of our hardcovers do have dust jackets—if the page does not say "this book may not have a dust jacket," then you can expect a dust jacket on the hardcover edition.
Is this a hurt/damaged books sale?
No. We conduct an annual sidewalk sale at our offices where we sell books with minor damage at drastically reduced prices. The "Online Sale" is a warehouse sale. The books are in top condition.
I clicked a "buy" button, but the price I see in the shopping cart is not the sale price.
You must enter the discount source code in the source code field just below the pricing information on the shopping cart page, then hit the "Update" button. This should give you the sale price.
I can't seem to add my employee or author discount on top of the sale price.
Because books that are on sale have been discounted so deeply, we are unable to offer additional discounts above and beyond the sale price of the book.
I would like to buy books that are not on sale. Can I put non-sale books in my shopping cart along with sale books?
Yes. Click the "Buy" button on the page and the book will be added to your cart along with any sale items already there.
What if a title goes out of stock?
We update the sale pages once a week with the most current availability information from our warehouses. If for any reason the book you ordered is not in stock when we receive your order, your order will be cancelled. This includes orders received
by our fulfillment service in Princeton after 9 am on November 1, Eastern time. We will inform you if either situation occurs.
When will my books arrive?
Please allow 2-4 weeks for standard delivery. In the United States, we ship books by Media Mail from the United States Postal Service, or, for large orders, by UPS Ground. You can also select UPS options for individual orders in our shopping
cart, but the cart will not display the shipping cost as it must be computed later. Internationally, we ship via surface mail, which can take 8-10 weeks.
Can I specify a faster shipping method?
Yes, for an additional charge. The higher-cost options are UPS Second Day and UPS Next Day, or Airmail for international orders. Please note that orders require 2-3 days for processing before they are shipped, so a UPS Next Day order will
arrive in 4 business days.
