George Perle, a Composer and Theorist, Dies at 93

George PerleThe composer, author, theorist, teacher, and Pulitzer Prize winner for music, George Perle, died last Friday at the age of 93.  The New York Times published an obituary this past Saturday.  The University of California Press published The Operas of Alban Berg, Volume 1: Wozzeck in 1980, The Operas of Alban Berg, Volume 2: Lulu in 1984, The Listening Composer in 1990, Serial Composition and Atonality: An Introduction to the Music of Schoenberg, Berg, and Webern, Sixth Edition, Revised in 1991, and Twelve-Tone Tonality, Second Edition in 1996.
