Each year, UC Press publishes nearly 200 new books and 30 multi-issue journals on international, national and regional topics in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. Keeping in print approximately 5,000 backlist titles, the Press also provides all of its journals and more than 3,000 books in digital formats.
Donors play a critical role in providing the resources necessary to sustain these efforts and publish outstanding works. Funders at all levels value the Press’s smart, compassionate takes on social justice issues, its celebration of unbridled creative expression, and its championing of enlightened ideals. Community giving is particularly crucial in this confounding political moment, when “alternative facts,” “fake news” and troubling anti-intellectual trends must be countered with rigorous scholarship and the upholding of intelligent public discourse on the most vital and compelling issues of our time.
