How to Request a Desk Copy

If you have placed an adoption order, please use our online form to request your desk copy.
Use our Site Search to find the book title page you are interested in. Click on the link in red on the right hand side of the page that says “Request a desk copy”. This will take you to our request form.

How to Request an Examination Copy

UC Press will be pleased to send you an examination copy of any textbook or course book that you would like to review for your class. To find out if an examination copy is available for the title you are interested in, please browse or search for that title and go to the book's product page. If an examination copy is available for a title, you will see a link on the right of the page under "FOR PROFESSORS" with a link to "Request a desk or examination copy" taking you to our online examination request form.

If the title you are interested in does not show a "Request a desk or examination copy" link, please follow these instructions.

United States, Canada & Latin America Exam and Desk Copy Policy

Examination Copy Policy, 60 Day Review Period

If you are a teacher, instructor, or professor who is considering using a UC Press book for your course, you may request an examination copy online by following the instructions above. These copies are licensed and may not be sold or transferred to a third party.

Once you have submitted a valid exam copy request, we will send you a 60 day examination copy for review. Should you adopt the book and place an order for ten or more copies, no payment will be due. If you do not adopt the book, an invoice will be generated or you may return the book and have the invoice canceled. Books must be returned in saleable condition with original invoice information.

Desk Copy Policy

If you have adopted a UC Press title for use in a course, please submit your desk copy request using our online form. A complimentary desk copy will be provided to a professor when 10 or more new books are ordered for course use. Additional desk copies are available for every 20 new copies ordered by your bookstore. Hardcover copies will be provided only when paperback is not available.

 

 

UK & Europe

Inspection Copy Policy

If a book appears to have possibilities for course use, we will consider requests for inspection copies submitted on official school letterhead. Requests should be limited to no more than three titles and provide the details of the course, number of students, start date, etc.

Desk Copy Policy

If you have already recommended our book for student study, we will supply a free desk/teaching copy on receipt of your confirmation of course details - reference, number of students, start date - plus a copy of your instructions for a bookstore order (min 5 copy). Apply on faculty letterhead and to the address as shown above for Inspection copies.

Australia & New Zealand

Inspection Copy Policy

We provide inspection copies to lecturers for 30 days to assess suitability for textbook use. After 30 days you must complete and return the enclosed comment form, and must advise whether you intend to recommend it to your students. If you don't intend to use it for a course, the book must be returned to Inbooks in saleable condition. If lecturers wish to keep the book for personal use but will not be recommending it, Inbooks will send an invoice for the full retail price less 20% lecturer's discount.

Desk Copy Policy

One copy is provided to the lecturer free of charge where the text order is 20+ copies. A maximum of two copies are provided when adoption order is for 50 or more copies.

We do not provide desk copies of books over RRP$100.
