University of California Press has partnered with the California Digital Library to support the research, teaching, and public service goals of the University of California by publishing high-quality, certified, UC-sourced scholarship in emerging digital research publication genres. Together, they have launched a collaborative publishing venture, UC Publishing Services (UCPubS), which offers a suite of open access digital and print publication services to University of California centers, institutes, and departments that produce scholarly books. UC Press and the CDL collaborated on Mark Twain Project Online, which grew out of UC Press's longstanding publishing partnership with the Mark Twain Papers and Project of The Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley. Mark Twain Project Online makes more than four decades' worth of archival research by expert editors at the Mark Twain Project available online. The California Digital Library hosts the UC Press E-Books Collection, 1982-2004, includes almost 2,000 UC Press books on a range of topics, including art, science, history, music, religion, and fiction. Access to the entire collection of electronic books is open to all University of California faculty, staff, and students, while more than 500 of the titles are available to the public.
