UC Press offers high quality, peer-reviewed content intended for adoption and use in classes with a unique point of view that reflects the emerging concepts, theories, and techniques of the disciplines in which we publish. Our content advances student understanding of developing themes in their fields, which ultimately prepares them to make a positive impact on our ever-changing world.
Why Higher Education?
Our mission is to drive progressive change by seeking out and cultivating the brightest minds and giving them voice, reach, and impact. We believe that scholarship is a powerful tool for fostering a deeper understanding of our world and changing how people think, plan, and govern. The work of addressing society’s core challenges—whether they be persistent inequality, a failing education system, or global climate change—can be accelerated when scholarship assumes its role as an agent of engagement and democracy.
Given our mission, and our editors’ knowledge of the fields they serve and the level at which we produce materials, the Higher Education program is a natural extension of these strengths. At a time when large publishers have narrowed their focus, we plan to develop content that serves our community of faculty and students.
We are actively acquiring textbooks, course books, and digital products in all of our disciplines, including Sociology, Anthropology, History, and others.
We are also now acquiring in our newest disciplines of Psychology and Communication.
