How to find our Out of Print Books

In the hundred-year history of the University of California Press, we have published many thousands of titles. Some of these titles are no longer available directly from the Press but continue to serve scholars, students, and the general public in libraries, rare bookshops, and other locations.

Listing of our most recently out-of-print books

The eScholarship collection of the California Digital Library includes almost 2000 University of California Press books, including some titles that are no longer available in print editions. Access to the electronic books is open to all University of California faculty, staff, and students; over 500 books are available to the public.

University Press Books, a Berkeley store specializing in books from university presses, often has copies of our books after they have gone out of print.

Addall is a used-book search engine that scans the databases of Alibris, ABEBooks, and many other bookstores, including online bookstores. Other search engines abound online; this is simply one that some of our staff members use most frequently.

Bookfinder is another popular search engine that scans many bookstore databases.

Lincoln Out of Print Book Search Service 1-800-292-8969. For a fee, this service will conduct a 6-month search and seems to have access to some bookstores whose holdings are not online.

netLibrary is an electronic book wholesaler for libraries. Hundreds of our out-of-print titles (and over a thousand of our in-print titles) are available. If you are a librarian and are interested in accessing our titles for your patrons, please visit netLibrary's site for more details.
