Marl Young, a pianist, music director, and author who helped desegregate L.A. musician unions died last Wednesday at the age of 92. The Los Angeles Times published an obituary this past Sunday. Young co-edited Central Avenue Sounds: Jazz in Los Angeles, which was published by UC Press in March 1998.
