Actually, that would be you. At least we hope so. For those who don’t know, UC Press is a nonprofit publisher and one of the groups we depend on the most for support are people like YOU.

Or, as UC Press Foundation Executive Director Janelle Cavanagh has put much more eloquently than I ever could:

At this time of year, I am reminded of what an exceptional group of friends we have, and of the importance of your support. As a nonprofit publisher, UC Press relies on the generosity of donors like you to publish intellectually and culturally significant books at affordable prices. Without your support for the 200 books and 40 journals we publish annually, solutions to pressing issues wouldn’t reach the public, traditions would be lost, and the best and brightest voices might not be heard.

Donations to the UC Press Foundation are tax-deductible as allowed by law. To receive credit for your gift in 2010, be sure your online donation is made no later than 11:59 PM (PT) on December 31, 2010, or that your mail-in donation is postmarked no later than December 31, 2010. Stock gifts must be received in the UC Press Foundation’s account by December 31, 2010, and can take several days to process. Contact your broker early to ensure credit for 2010. The UC Press offices will be closed for the holidays beginning December 23, 2010, and will reopen on January 3, 2011.

If you’re already a supporter of UC Press, we hope you will renew your membership today.

Thank you for your friendship, and best wishes for the holidays,

Janelle Cavanagh

As I said, way more eloquently than I could have put it. Thank you for your support.
